Review of Barrie St John’s Great Golf Hypnosis Download.

I first became aware of the ‘Great Golf’ self hypnosis download by Barrie St John when I noticed a huge amount of online searches being made for this particular title. I write hypnosis download reviews for my site exploring-hypnotherapy.com and as a very active 12 handicap golfer myself I am interested in the ‘Great Golf’ hypnosis download from a personal point of view.

I’m a great believer in the golfing mind game and ALWAYS use self hypnosis techniques both before and during my matches.

Barrie has a very soft, deep, relaxing voice with a slight Yorkshire accent which is very comforting. He starts off by taking you through the deep relaxation phase and in no time at all I could feel my muscles melting and my body feeling heavier as I relaxed into my armchair. He asks you to start counting down backwards from 300 but as usual, I could only get to about 280 before drifting off into a lovely relaxed, peaceful state.

Golf hypnosis downloads are very effective in utilising the creativity of your unconscious mind to create a calm state that returns time after time as you play the game you love.

‘There is nowhere you have to be, nobody needs anything, the time is yours, not a care in the world, nothing at all for you to do except to relax and let go’ are the words that really help you to let go of all tensions and allow yourself to float and get in exactly the right frame of mind for golfing thoughts to enter your subconscious mind.

I like the choice of music and the 3D effects of his voice tracks makes for a very professional effect although I would expect nothing less than serious professionalism as Barrie currently sees his clients at his Harley Street Clinic, London.

After about 12 minutes of relaxation Barrie’s words turn to the subject of golf.

Although you are drifting off into a wonderful trance like state, your unconscious mind however is still listening intently and uses his words to continue to make positive changes in your golf mental game.

Barrie John’s starting focus is about the importance of having rhythm in your golf game, commonly known as being ‘in the zone’.  I can easily relate to this because when I think back to all the times when I came in with  good scores, the overall feeling was one of ‘just letting it flow and hitting the ball easily and effortlessly ‘ and how ‘right’ everything felt with my swing.

 That all important but so elusive Rhythm !

Barrie  offers a suggestion for disposing of distracting thoughts that come to your mind when you play golf,’ imagine a bin by the tee where you can drop all your distracting thoughts before you strike the ball’.

There is also a section on putting technique where you picture long putts and putting to a six feet circle around the hole where you want to leave your ball to go down in 2 putts, visualising the path you want the ball to take.
 
The next section leads you to imagine you are in the body of a player you admire, feeling how it feels to swing like they do and seeing shots through their eyes.

You’re then led to mentally practice what you have learnt, feeling how much better things feel, noticing how much more confident you are and how much you are looking forward to your next round of golf.

All in all, I enjoyed the session and look forward to using it again as I know that the more I use it I will be able to use my imagination more vividly and as with all hypnosis sessions the effects will be cumulative in my subconscious mind and as Barrie says ‘ will help me to produce positive and profound changes to my golf game.’

The recording is 24 minutes long and in my mind, it is a very creative 24 minutes and undoubtedly will bring great benefits to your mental game of golf.

Rules of Golf

When you want to become a great golf player, you should know a few of the rules to the game.  It is important to understand and follow the rules when you are out on the green so that there is no distraction or confusion with the other players.  You want to look as professional as you can and that is why you need to study the golf rules so that you are ready to play.

One golf rule is that you need to play the course in order. You must use the holes as they go.  You may not skip any of the holes when you are playing golf.   You should also know that in match play, each of the holes is a separate contest.  If you win the first hole, you are one up and if you loose, you are one down.  It is very easy to comprehend and just takes a little time to get used to.

When stroke play is in use, the competitor with the lowest total score for the round is the winner.  You must play the ball into the hole before starting the next hole.  Anyone that you are playing with is considered a fellow competitor. 

In the game of golf, you will have golf equipment to carry on with you.  You may not carry more than fourteen clubs on the green.  You usually cannot change the ball that you use on the green in a game as well.  This is of course, unless you loose your ball.  Then you are allowed to get another regulation ball.

You should not do some things when you are playing golf.  These are a few good rules to follow so that you can be sure to play the game in the correct manner so that it is fair for everyone.  You should read the notices that are given to you by the officials.  Make sure that you are in full compliance and understand what you need to do.  You should always use your proper handicap as well. 

Make sure that you are on time.  This is a golf rule that you must follow.  You should always know when your tee time is and you need to be prompt.  Be sure that you are there and fully prepared for the game.  Has all of your equipment and the accessories that you will need to play the game. 

You should also know the golf rule that you keep playing no matter what the weather conditions.  This is of course unless you start to see lightning.  Then you must get off the green at once!

Your grip maybe the cause of the hook. When the clubface is closed upon contact it is usually due over rotation in the wrist and grip tension. Please analyse your grip constantly until you begin to understand what you have to do. Test your grip at the driving range and trial this method. During your stance, have the ball placed a little further from your body. You may stretch out a little and may cause you to slice at when you start off but you are on the right track. The Golf Grip

A good golf grip is essential to playing a good game of golf.  If you are gripping the club incorrectly or too hard, you will end up with shots that go places you don’t want them to go.  There is no one exact science to the golf grip, but there are three basic golf grips that golfers use today:

* The overlapping grip is the most common golf grip used.  It is used mostly by male golfers and those with strong wrists and forearms.  The little finger of the right hand lies on top of or overlaps the index finger on the left hand.

* The baseball grip is most commonly used by younger golfers, females, seniors, and those with weaker wrists and arms.  The index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand meet but do not overlap or interlock.

* An interlocking grip will be used by golfers with shorter hands and fingers, those with thicker or chunkier palms, and golfers who have difficulty with the overlapping grip.  The index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand overlap each other and interlock.
Here is the basic way to grip a golf club no matter which grip you use.  Start by holding the club directly in front of you with your right hand with the club head pointing away from you at about a 45 degree angle.

Next grip the club with your left hand. The club will be mainly in the palm across the pads at the base of the fingers. However, the club will lie across the first section of the index finger. The thumb will be positioned straight on top of the golf club shaft. Relative to the golf club, the thumb will be in the twelve o’clock position.

Now, with your right hand, grip the golf club just above your left hand with the fingers, not the palm, of your right hand. The thumb will be positioned slightly off to the left. Relative to the golf club, the thumb will be in an eleven o’clock position.

If you have gripped the golf club correctly, only the first two knuckles of your left hand will be visible. Also, your left thumb should be completely hidden under your right hand.  The index finger position of your right hand will look and feel like a gun trigger finger.
If your golf grip pressure is right, the club could almost be pulled out of your hands, but not quite.  A correct golf grip will make you feel as if you are holding the club mostly in the palm and last three fingers of your left hand. Regardless, both hands should hold the club with equal pressure.  A correct golf grip doesn’t guarantee a successful golf swing; however, a defective golf grip will almost always result in a failed golf swing.

Hitting the Ball

What is your first thought when you go to the tee to hit your golf ball? You want to hit it as hit as possible, right?  That is just a myth. You want to hit the ball enough to make it go far, but you don’t want to waste your energy either. You should be thinking about your stance and the club.

Your drive is only as good as your club. You will want to make sure that you have purchase a club that is worthy of being used. You want to check the flexibility of the shaft to make sure that you can control the ball as much as possible. You will also want to think about the steps of a goal swing. When you go to swing, many people forget to follow through and that affects your drive.

Make sure that your stance is correct and that you go through all the steps, including the follow though so that you are able to drive the ball on course and far. Trust your club. If you are using a driver, it will send the ball further than you can imagine, but have faith.

Here is one last tip when it comes to driving the ball. You will don’t want to let yourself focus on hitting the ball with force. It is important, but as long as you have a good stance and your club is worthy enough for you, you will do fine. There are so many other factors than how hard your hit the ball that will determine the distance that the ball will go.

Golfing is hard! You won’t be a pro within a couple weeks. Golfing is something that you have to work hard with. You have to practice to get better and you have to follow some tips from various sources for you to have a good game.

You will want to ask some of your friends what they think, as well as research the game. You may want to go online to find tips to help you with your stance or your swing and you will want to purchase or rent some movies that will help you improve your game. There are also a lot of self-help books that are devoted to the game and will help you improve all of the things that you need to work on as a beginner. As long as you got a good swing, you can work on everything else. You first have to master the swing.

Golf Tips

Let’s face it, golf is a very difficult game, and most of us do not apply the time needed toward practice to improve ourselves.  The majority of people that play the game do just that – play the game.  We hope that through the course of a round, we can pick up some problems in our swings that we can use the next time we go out to the course.  However, to make a marked improvement, we should practice in between rounds.
The best thing we can do to improve our respective games is to head to the driving range as much as possible.  Repeatedly striking balls will help you develop the muscle memory required to develop a consistent golf swing.  When hitting balls at the range, place a golf tee into the ground three inches behind the ball and another one three inches in front of the ball.  Also place a long club, preferably a driver, at your toes, parallel with tees.
When you begin to hit balls with this alignment, you should make sure that your clubface is going straight over the tees when making contact with the ball.  Your back shoe should pivot against the club shaft laying on the ground.  It is recommended that you try to focus on a high follow-through after striking the ball, and also turning your hips toward the target.
Most driving ranges will have a practice green or mound that you can pitch onto.  You should spend a significant amount of time working around this area because most amateur golfers do not place their approach shots on the green.  There is normally a flag that you can aim towards as a target, so experiment with various shots to the target.  For these short pitches, choke down on the pitching wedge a little, don’t be afraid to swing the club (decelerate), and avoid the tendency to raise your head and follow the flight of the ball.
Finally, practice your feel for putting on the manicured practice greens that are at most driving ranges.  Use three balls and try to hit three putts from the same spot.  You should begin by putting from a distance of three feet from the hole, and increase the distance of the putts throughout the practice session.  Also, keep in mind that you should be “target putting” – that is, trying to get the ball as close to the hole as possible.
